All of our adult class combat trainers have fight experience. No exceptions. We believe in learning the art in all its forms through first hand experience. Head coach Mario Marin has lived and fought in Thailand. He actively works to develop amateur fighters to compete in the New York Scene. Any Seminars held at Red Planet Muay Thai will be from high level, even legendary status. We keep a strong connection with many gyms in Phuket, Thailand, and promote real Muay Thai as much as we can. Boxing and Striking for MMA
Mario Marin is a former professional fighter having trained martial arts all his life. His Muay Thai experience started with Sifu Neil Cauliffe at the original NY Martial arts academy in Whitestone, Queens in 1987. Since then he has trained at numerous gyms in the U.S. including the famed Degeberg Academy in Chicago Illinois, The Wat, Renzo Gracie NYC, Zaragoza Boxing with Willie Buenavides, and numerous other gyms. A former MMA fighter and active submission grappling competitor, his course naturally took him to Thailand where he trained and fought for the world famous Tiger Muay Thai Fight Team in 2012/13. He has since taken on the role of Muay Thai coach at the world famous Gleason's Gym and opened his own gym, Red Planet Muay Thai. Famous for its community building programs, Red Planet was the first gym in New York to host a donation based safe space boxing program for Trans Persons. As its primary coach, he grew the program to multiple gyms and currently runs a Muay Thai program for LGBTQ and QTPOC persons, as well as hosting a completely donation based martial arts program for kids in the Bedstuy neighborhood.
Flexibility and Gay Fight Club Coach
Mc'SHerry has tons of experience in physical movement and was a dancer before embarking on a quest for a Degree in some Biomedical madness science I can't even pronounce or quite fully understand. McSherry's hyper flexible ability comes from years of training, which they are now sharing to the family here at Red Planet Muay Thai.
Leyla Leidecker is an amateur fighter and former New York Metro's Boxing Champion. She comes from the world famous Gleason's Gym, where she trained with some of the best coaches in the world, including Hector Roca and Pedro Saez. A Hungarian immigrant, Leyla has been an active model, fighter, and film maker, working on documentaries involving women in the Golden Gloves boxing tournament. A mother of three, she brings a love of the sport and technical assistance in the sweet science.
Jesse “Big Dog” Bogorad
Jesse has been training Muay Thai for over 5 years and has 7 amateur fights. Originally from Florida, Jess’s coaching style is high energy and fast paced. Jesse has trained at Chokchai Muay Thai in Phuket Thailand. When he isn’t doing Muay Thai, he is raising animals in his Bushwick home, including chickens, snakes, turtles, a dog and now a cat.

TJ has earned his nick name by using the "Muay Mat" style and brawling like the tank that he is. With an Iron Jaw and the cardio ability of a marathon runner, TJ has worn down many a fighter with seemingly superior physiques. TJ has trained at the famous Sitmonchai Gym near Bangkok, Thailand.
Chelsea Van comes to the gym with a 10 amateur fights experience and a love of service to society. She teaches our women’s Muay Thai program, where she emphasizes boundary settings through an understanding of Muay Thai. She also teaches a beginner Muay Thai Bag Work Class, coaches for our friends at StopPD as a therapeutic boxing coach for people with Parkinsons as she works on her degree in Physical Therapy.
